Derion

Derion is the inhabitant of Universe 996, a universe where instead of being a cruel tyrant, Frieza's a benevolent person, whose troops travel across space to bring justice to planets ruled by tyrants or to help civilizations to thrive by adding them into the evergrowing Frieza Empire.

In this Universe, Planet Vegeta is still under Frieza's rule, despite the Saiyan race's violent nature. Some Saiyans are even  part of the Frieza army, working to make the universe a better place. Still, the race is being kept under careful eye, is case they try to cause trouble on other planets or such, as you can never be too careful.

In Vegeta, a youth was born and was named Derion. The boy was average of the average at birth, and not much was expected out of him.
Growing up, Derion proved to be a bit of an outcast around other Saiyan children. This was because despite showing some of the innate warrior nature of his race, like his enjoyment in a good brawl, Derion lacked the pride, thinking that to achieve your goal a underhanded trick wasn't a bad thing, and he also showed to be more good-willed compared to others, more often than not wanting to help someone he saw needing help.

As years passed, Derion trained and trained, living the every day life of a Saiyan basically, and once he deemed himself to be strong enough, he went out of his way to join the Frieza Army. It was not only because he wished to help others, but also a means to grow stronger, explore new places and just get out of Planet Vegeta.

Once in the Frieza Army, Derion was assigned into the Sargo Force, a unit led by one of Frieza's most trusted unit captains; Sargo.
At first Derion felt a tad bit too awkward in the unit, because everyone was rather eccentric, but after getting to know the other member's and taking on a couple of missions together, the Saiyan felt like one of them, thanks to the unit's friendly and infectious nature.

Within in the Sargo Force, Derion got the chance to travel all around the known galaxy, learn new things and grow much, MUCH stronger, and with the passing years made a name within his unit.

One day, after a mission well done, a group of people calling themselves the Vargas arrived, telling of the multiple universes that exist and how they are going to be holding the Tournament of Power to decide the strongest of the strongest amongst all the universes and the winner would get the chance to use the Dragon Balls, a tool that would grant any wish. Intrigued by this, Derion decided to participate to see just how far he can get with his level and just how far can the limits of one warrior's strength reach, when you count in all the universes.
I mean, sure, the chance to get a wish from the Dragon Balls was tempting, but there wasn't any specific wish Derion wanted granted, nor did he believe that he'd possibly be able to win, counting in the fact that his universe alone had people stronger than him.
But then again, you never know.
